Feliz Navidad!

Hola Fambly!
First of all, Merry Christmas! I'm sad that i missed it and at the same time
absolutely not sad at all. I'm supposed to be here and i want to be here!
and i realized that right now, I'm giving Jesus Christ the best gift i could
ever give Him, myself. for... seventeen more months now, I'm serving God and
helping all His children to have hope in Him. that's what Christ birth was.
lying in a manger in a stable in Judea so many years ago, was a little
bundle of hope. before his hands performed mighty miracles, before they were
nailed to the cross, before his head was crowned with thorns, Jesus Christ
was lay in a stable, and the angels in heaven sang his praises, and all
turned their gaze to a tiny baby, helpless, innocent, and the hope of the
world. I love Christmas time! and i can help people to have joy in Jesus
Christ, to finally know what they're doing here and that God does care. he
has a plan for them!
on Tuesday, Elder Neil L Andersen spoke to us in the devotional and his
whole family was there including adorable grandchildren. His grandchildren
sang "picture a Christmas" and it reminded me of mom so of course it made me
cry:) also, the little kids made me think of my boogalu and my niece and
nephews... so i had a moment of home-sickness but it went away! haha it's
been so long since I've seen children, i almost forgot they existed!
anyway, i slept with my blanket last night so all of you were with me on
Christmas eve! thanks for the packages and presents! Hna georgeson and i had
fun opening our presents this morning:) and i even took a couple pictures!
I love you all more than life itself... literally!

December 11, 2009

Okay... what to say...?
well, Claudio Costa from the Presidency of the Seventy came for our
devotional this week! He's SO adorable and hilarious! He said, sharing the
gospel is easy. you just ask someone if they're a member of the church, and
then when they say no, you say, Why not?! haha yep, it's THAT easy:)
But this week has been a good one! i feel like my Espanol is getting a
little better. I'm trying to speak it more so i can learn faster! Our
district is all kinda down about our learning the language or i guess i
should say we just are a little too humble sometimes:) so we had a lesson
about Christ's grace and that he can make up for anything we can't do!
anything!!! and of course it's going to be hard but He really does help us.
and thinking about our weaknesses all the time is just selfish! this isn't
about me, it's about God's work! so that lesson really got me pumped!
ANIMO!!! it's great:)
the TRC was better this week. when they spoke to me in Spanish i actually
understood and could kinda respond. i can't remember if i told you but last
time me and my comp both just stared at them... literally! haha no bueno! So
that was a boost for me. I'm not totally lost! YAY!!!
this one is just not going to be quite as long. lo siento! or maybe you're
happy about that:)
read in Moses 7: i think it starts in vs 27? God is talking to Enoch, and I
LOVE vs 32! it's wonderful. why does God weep when we are just tiny specks
in the midst of His creations? vs 32... read, es muy bueno:)
Love you all!thanks for your prayers! Ipray for you too!
Love,
Hna Jones
PS ducky, what was the name of that girl who teaches here? last name i
mean:)
and also, i need Don and Alice's address so i can write them! thanks!!!
Ps the MTC causes muy stinky feet!!! es no bueno :(

December 4, 2009

Hey everybody!everything is going great here! of course it is:) i have a story to tell you, two in fact! so, we had to teach the first lesson to our teacher the other night because hna squires got sick so we had an uneven number of companionships. anyway, we've taught it before of course but only to other elders and sisters. my teacher is super intimidating. i'm pretty sure he played football for BYU and he's huge! but probably the most loving person in the whole world, and SO spiritual! anyway, he taught us first and then we were supposed to teach him back but his lesson was so amazing and we were just really overwhwlmed and we know we can't teach that well, so it was incredibly humbling! i almost cried just thinking about it... but that's probably just cuz it's that time of the month:) haha i know it's too much information but i don't care!!! so, we tauhgt and it ended up being really good. the spirit was really strong and even though he was being way too nice for an investigator, still we taught with power!then last night was awesome! we had an appt to teach a teacher and we started teaching and it just wasn't very good. we were going through the lesson but the spirit wasn't there. the teacher stopped us and was like, ok i just have a couple questions. does he know why you're in his house? do you know why he invited you? do you know anything about what he believes? and at this point i was already on the verge of tears! and then he asked me, " Sister, why are you hear?" and even though i've known it all along it just hit me really hard, and i said, " i'm here because not only does God love me, but he loves all his children so much and he wants them to come back to Him! that's what He wants more than anything. I'm in this house because this is God's son and He want him to be happy and know the way to get back!" or something to that extent and i was bawling! and the teacher said, tell him that! tell him why your here and there is no way he can deny your message. and then find out what he needs and help him. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is what can help him!so when he came back in we started over completely! and when i say me, i mean I started over completely. hna Georgeson was just having some sort of stupor or something. and i think maybe God knew i needed this and that's why she didn't talk at all. i don't know, but i just got to know his concerns and testified to him that God does love him and so does Jesus Christ. and I paused for hna Georgeson but she wouldn't speak so i just kept going and it was SO amazing and powerful for me! the spirit was so strong! and afterward we had to stop in the bathroom and just cry for a minute but they were good tears:)i don't know if i really got across what i wanted to, but the point was, i never want to forget that feeling of love for God's children. I've never experienced that before and i think that's how i should feel toward everyone on my mission and then i'll be able to help so many people!!!that's all. sorry that one story took up my whole letter but it was a WOW moment for me so i had to share!thanks for the letters:) i want some pics too!Love you all,Hermana Jones

Happy Thanksgiving!

well i wrote it down but i forgot to grab the envelope before i went to the computer place:)anyway, i guess this will be the whole family email!so Hola fambly!!!Things are good! i had a great thanksgiving and the time has flown by since i got here! elder Holland came for thanksgiving devotional! SO GOOD!!! and last week Elder Oaks was here for our devotional! also amazing! I am loving it. for elder Holladn's talk we were only about five rows back so it was pretty cool to be that close!well, sad news! one of the elders in my district went home:( he just realized he needed to fix some things in his life before he could be here so i guess he talked to the branch pres or something and was sent home. we were all a little shaken but really glad he's getting his life in order. he said, "i'm coming back out once i can" so hopefully he does!on a brighter note, i love Sundays in the MTC!!! they're great and full of music and the Spirit! i'm learning a lot and trying to be really good.you guys should all read each other's letters because they all say different things and i don't have time to email it all:) but just know that things are good! so dada got a baby horse eh? sounds fun:) let me know how that turns out. How was thanksgiving without me? a little less messy probably:) write me letters, my loves!!!! i have good stories for you but i'll just send you letters about those.I love you all mucho!!! thank you for your love and prayers and support.Love forever and always,Hermana Jones

November 27, 2009

Thanks for the prayers. they paid off:) i'm going to write you a letter so don't be concerned that this email is short-ish or i'm not answering all your questions. i'm sure you'll read the one i sent to papa's email too. we now have more sisters than elders in our district! crazy eh? i love my district! the elders are all really mature for 19 yr old boys. i look around at the other elders at lunch being really immature and i thank Heavenly Father for the ones in my District. they really are great:) and i absolutely love tthe sisters too! hermanas Lyons, Harris, and Squires are in a trio, and then me and Hermana Georgeson. they're so cute! especially hna Squires. she's so innocent and loving! and she's a massuse (sp?) she rubbed my shoulders for a minute the other day! it felt so good! apparently i'm a little tense! haha we had sack dinners thanksgiving evening so we made a picnic on the floor with the other sisters. i took pictures:) it was cute.
sorry about the typos! i'm trying to type fast! I love you SO much. thinking about what i'm grateful for, i thought of you, and dad, and all my wonderful family.
Hugs and Kisses to you.
LOVES,
hermana Jones

Hola mi familia!
i'm sending this to mi madre because i can't remember papas and i left it in my room! lo siento:) well, it's been amazing so far!!! i'm not going to lie, it's incredibly busy! it's also chaotic, confusing, and the most wonderful spiritual experience! i haven't been hear very long but i already love it! i can't wait for our schedule to be a little more normal which will start next week! my p day will be on fri from here on out so thats when i'll be able to check emails and email you! yay!!!
my companion is wonderful! her name is Hermana Georgeson and I love her already:) she's kinda quirky and we get along great. also, my district is so good! we have 5 elders and 5 sisters which is awesome! 50% of my district is hermanas!we've really been bonding a lot and they all have such wonderful insights! i'm learning so much just from the other missionaries! One of the other hermanas, Hna Lyons, also has a boyfriend waiting for her so we were talking during Gym yesterday about it, and how we're just SO glad we followed what we feel God wants us to be doing right now. No offense to JD ;) but there is honestly no doubt in my mind that this is where I'm supposed to be. the spirit is so strong in every lesson and i've learned so much already. my teachers are hermano Richardson y hermano Burkholz and they are both really good. they offset eachother nicely. our lessons with Hno Richardson are more spiritually focused and way powerful, and Hno Burkholz teaches more of the language, and he talks SO fast!!!
i had an interesting experience. i prayed to be able to know my weaknesses so that i could work on them, but then i kinda forgot. so the next day i was getting so frustrated because i was having such a hard time organizing my time and studying effectively, also i realized that i'm not very good at spanish, nothing shocking there:) but that night when i was praying, it just came to me that God was answering my prayers by showing me a couple of my weaknesses... duh! and i was almost going to get mad at him:) silly me! i don't know if i explained that very well, but it helped me realize that God answers my prayers... and maybe i should be careful what i pray for!!! hehe jk it's good. i realized a couple things i forgot but nothing important! i'll write soon
... i love you all and i miss you! thank you for your love and support.
Love,
Hermana Jones
